Robert Lane Scott

June 24, 1959 — December 10, 2023

 

Robert Lane Scott, age 64, from Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away on December 10, 2023. He was born in Billings, Montana, the fourth and youngest child of Robert (Bob) and Mary Scott on June 24, 1959. He married Tammy Sue Striegel on June 26, 1988, in Greeley, Colorado.

 

Born into a family that loved horses, Robert was a cowboy from the start. He began riding bulls in Little Britches competition at age 10 and never looked back. He went on to graduate from Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, Colorado, where he competed in Colorado High School rodeo events. He was a member of the rodeo team at the University of Wyoming, where he graduated with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering. 

 

While living in Greeley, Colorado, Robert and Tammy’s daughter Nicolett Cordelia was born.  Robert spent his career working in the oil fields and excelled as a directional driller in the Grand Junction area. 

 

Robert was an avid horse rider his entire life and continued to compete in senior gymkhana competitions in Grand Junction for many years. He and his favorite horse, Monty, excelled at barrel racing, winning five first-place trophy saddles. In his retirement, he enjoyed working on his acreage, where he built his own arena and barn. 

 

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Tammy, and his father, Robert A. Scott.

 

He is survived by his mother Mary Scott of Lakewood Colorado, daughter Nikki Scott and granddaughter Cordelia of Grand Junction, brother Ross from Shreveport, Louisiana, sisters Shannon (Lowell) Siebert of Henderson, Nebraska and Melissa (Darryl) Albert of Golden, Colorado, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in Robert's name to the Mesa County 4-H Livestock Council.
