Robert E Staley Jr. (Bob) of Rangely Colorado passed away unexpectedly on November 11, 2021. Bob was born November 27, 1954, to Robert and LaVaughn Staley in Vernal Utah, and was the second of three boisterous boys.
Bob graduated from Rangely High School in 1973 earning the prestigious Grace Petz award and making All-Conference for his athletic achievements. He married Denise Jean Strain later that summer and then moved to Glendale Arizona where he attended Arizona Automotive Institute. Upon graduation they returned to Rangely where he went to work at Colorado Well Service, beginning his lifelong career in the oil field. In 1975 their son Jason Alan Staley was born and in 1977 their daughter Shirley Michelle Staley (Mandy) joined the family.
Bob later married Teresa Fay Pauls in 1992 and they had a son, Christopher Wyatt Staley in 1995. Bob and Teresa both enjoyed working in their yard with Bob being the master engineer resulting in an original and beautiful landscape. Bob, along with many of the Staley clan looked forward to their time at hunting camp. Their village-like camp is the home of many fond memories that include hunters from near and far that have become lifelong friends. He had an eye for life’s hidden charm and was a collector of many things. Bob’s greatest joy however was his children, and later his grandchildren. He was a devoted and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend!
Bob is survived by his wife Teresa Staley of Rangely, daughter Mandy Staley of Brighton CO along with daughters Savannah and Mariana, son Christopher Staley of Littleton CO along with fiancée Miranda and son Orlyn, daughter-in-law Andi Staley of Fruita CO along with son Lane and daughter Kendall. Brothers Gary Staley and Tommy Staley of Rangely and their families. In-laws Leo and June Pauls of Fruita CO and families.
Proceeded in death by his son Jason Staley, parents Robert and LaVaughn Staley, and mother-in-law Mina Pauls.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 4, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Rangely Christian Church and followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the RE4 school district backpack program through an account set up at the Bank of the San Juans.
