Roberta "Kay" Decker-Lee, 71, died January 11th, 2017 following a brief illness. She passed peacefully at HopeWest in Grand Junction, CO. Born April 13th, 1945 in Winfield KS, she was the daughter of the late Robert Harold Decker and Laura Catherine McCaleb.
Kay attended High School in Enid, OK and graduated from Mesa College with a degree in Nursing. She worked many years at the Grand Junction Regional Center in various roles as well as St Mary’s Hospital as an RN.
Kay enjoyed spending time on her small farm in Orchard Mesa. She loved working in her vineyard and spending time with her dogs, horses and cats. Kay also loved the outdoors and spent many summer days camping in Pitkin, CO. She cheered on the Denver Broncos every football season and was unbeatable at Scrabble. Earlier in life, Kay was an avid bicyclist and rode over many passes in Colorado and surrounding areas. Always friendly and generous, Kay was an easy soul to love. She was kind to animals and took care of them as family. Kay was an amazing friend, mother, wife and sister. Memories of her will be cherished by all who knew her.
Kay is survived by her husband, Ed; daughter Jennifer (Ken) Peterson of Grand Junction, CO and their children Melissa and Zachary; son John (Rachel) Sparkman of Fort Collins, CO and their children Abigail, Kayla and Bradley; stepsons Scott (Jodi) Lee of Pagosa Springs, CO; Andrew (Wendy) Lee of Fort Worth, TX, and their children Asher, Deacon, Aspen and Jax; Stepdaughter Alicia Lee of Palisade, CO; sisters Janet (John) Frieden of Topeka, KS, Christa (Sal de Stasio) Grijalva of Tucson, AZ; brother Richard (Ellie) Decker of Lenexa, KS;
