Robin was born in Denver, Colorado to Shirley Leonard on March 28, 1963. His mother Shirley, Aunt Eloise and his five siblings Randy, Gloria, David, Lynn and Tami tried to teach and guide him on his way. The family relocated in 1968 to Santa Monica, California. Robin spent sunny days playing baseball, running on the beach, surfing, skateboarding, and causing mischief with his pals Billy and Barry. His blonde hair, sun tan and carefree attitude could have earned him the nickname Spicoli. The family travelled often and had adventures throughout the United States. Every year included a visit to Colorado. Robin cherished the stories from his grandmother and Marie Scott. He joked that he knew almost as much history of the Western Slope as anyone, and considered himself a native. Upon graduation from high school, Robin spent several years travelling and immersing himself in the further good and bad of humanity; from being homeless in Missouri, to hitchhiking his way across the country, to finally ending up back home in Santa Monica. The next step in his life brought him to Montrose, Colorado. Robin married Cheryl Peterson early 1987. In May of the same year, he enlisted in the military. He spent 12 years active/reserve as a combat engineer. He considered serving his country an honor, and he credits the military with saving his life. From this union two children were born; Eric in 1988 and Kristy in 1989. Upon discharge from the military, Robin returned to Montrose. Robin met and married Marsha Leonard in 1999. They were together through good times and bad until his passing. Robin welcomed four grandchildren into his life; Mathew(2010), Johnathan(2012), Kenneth(2013)and Sophia(2020). He inspired and guided them as only a grandfather can. He worked at many things in his life: construction, driving and delivering, and janitorial work. His passions were few and simple; watching and talking with people, doing work searches(his linguistics analysis), sports and music. He will be remembered for his eclectic and all encompassing taste for anything musical. His collection of over 400 CD’s can testify to that. He saw the soul of another person easily. If he liked you, he liked you. Period. His mother Shirley and sister Gloria escorted him to his eternal rest; and he watches all his loved ones always. He was a remarkable soul; he will be sorely missed.
