Roger Sollenbarger, 87, Passed peacefully surrounded by his family and left this world to get his questions about the universe answered on January 27, 2024. He was born in Denver, CO to Marjorie and Lee R. Sollenbarger. He attended elementary schools in the Denver area and graduated from Wheatridge High School. Following high school, he attended Colorado University in Boulder graduating with a degree in business and later attended DU Law School, graduating with a JD. In 1957, he married Beverly Martin. They had two children. They later divorced.
Roger became a commercial real estate broker and was the qualifying broker for Marcus and Millichap, Commercial Brokers, when they expanded their offices to Colorado. He enjoyed the creativity of real estate and made that his calling. Law bored him! Roger actually wrote the first apartment to condominium declarations for the state of Colorado. He was also heavily involved with the Havern School for Children with learning disabilities and served on its Board of Directors because deep concern for children with dyslexia.
In 1980 he moved to Santa Fe, NM to manage an investment property he had purchased. There he met and married Sharon Means, who he described as the "love of his life". Being homesick for Colorado, he brought Sharon home to the Golden area and began "the great adventure" looking for the perfect mountain property with a trout stream. 65,000 miles later from southern Wyoming to northern New Mexico, they found that perfect trout stream with acreage in Unaweep Canyon. There they built their own house, entertained the grandchildren in the summers, and generally loved their mountain home. They made a deal that he didn't have to have cows and Sharon didn't have to have chickens! It worked well! In 2016 they sold the ranch and moved into Grand Junction.
Roger was known for his sense of humor. He always had a joke for you. Roger was loving and generous to his family and to his friends. If you had a problem, he wanted to help. He was exceedingly proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was no "step" for any of them. They were his. He loved them all and bragged on them to anyone that would listen. He was happy to fund the "Bank of GrandMa" for them.
Roger is pre-deceased by his parents and his son, Lee Martin. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon, daughters Ann Mabrito, Grand Junction, Julie Hager(Kevin) Grand Junction, Rose Sollenbarger, Roundup, MT, son Russ Means (Tammi) Denver, Sister Judy Hancock(Lynn), Snowmass, CO, Nephews, Brad Hancock, Glenwood Springs, CO and Christopher Hancock, Manila, Philippines, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
