Roger Keith Wright passed away peacefully at his home on January 8, 2024, at the age of 77.
He was born on December 26, 1946, in Gunnison, Colorado to Calvin “Dee” Wright and Wanda Mae (Lockhart) Wright.
Roger grew up in Gunnison. Graduated from Gunnison High School in 1965. While in high school he was active in many school sports.
He had various employment adventures throughout his lifetime. He worked in Gunnison at the Spencer and Hill Gas Station as well as the Westside Grocery Store as a meat cutter.
Roger had attended the Police Academy. Then worked for The Cites of Gunnison, Glenwood Springs, and Carbondale Police Departments, ultimately reaching the rank of Lieutenant.
He was also employed for some time with Pitkin Iron Corp. at Mid-Continent Coal and Coke Company in Carbondale.
His final career took him across the United States Driving Trucks and making lifetime friends along the way.
Roger married Phyllis Ann Doyel in Dove Creek, Colorado on March 2, 1996. They eventually made their home in Fruita, Colorado.
Roger enjoyed spending time with all his family. Taking many vacations to visit them. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, dancing, and riding his Honda Gold Wing. He loved his Dogs and watching the Denver Broncos play.
Roger is Survived by his Wife Phyllis Wright.
Sons Keith Wright (Angela), Kenny Wright (Kim) and Josh Quigley (Brandy), Siblings Wanda “Marie” Evans (Lester “Ed”), Calvin Wright (Cindy)and Deanna Snyder (Richard).
Extended Family included son Kevin Eaton and daughters Amber Sword-Burgess and Brandy Guthrie.
Grandchildren Shailei Wright, Jacob Lemmons, Kylena Handy, Matthew Calvert, Zachary Wright, Malorie Quigley, Isaiah Atencio, Kayden Atencio, Brihana Atencio, Megan Acosta, Allen Acosta, Kurtrina Aarness, Kanita Dial, Keaton Eaton, Robert Eaton, Desiree Chavez, Lanissa Chavez, Kayla Knowlden (Ty )
16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Calvin “Dee” and Wanda Wright. Grandson Lee Wright and Nephew Wesley Snyder.
Roger will be dearly missed.
At Roger's request, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held later this Summer in Gunnison, Colorado.
