Ronald Bert Nicholas, 57, passed August 22, 2023 at HopeWest in Grand Junction.
Born November 8, 1965 in Denver, Colorado to the late George and Betty Nicholas.
Ron graduated from Soroco High School in Oak Creek, Colorado in 1985 and then Mesa State College in 1989 with an Automotive Associate’s Degree.
Ron was a truck driver, working in the oil fields along with over-the-road hauling. Ron boasted often of driving in every state except Hawaii.
Most importantly, Ron was a proud father. He loved his three boys Jarrett, Brendon, and Gage. His whole life was about his boys and he will be so proud of the great men that they will become.
Ron was a member of the Methodist Church.
He was a rabid NASCAR fan (his favorite racer was Dale Jarrett, namesake for his oldest son), the Denver Broncos, Nebraska Cornhuskers football, hunting, fishing, and loyal supporter of President Trump.
Ron was quiet, kind, and a loyal friend. He was calm and collected except if politics were the subject of the conversation, then one might hear some colorful language and very strong opinions.
Ron is preceded in death by his father George Nicholas, mother Betty Nicholas, and his Aunt Mary Olin.
Ron is survived by his three sons, Jarrett, Brendon, and Gage; sister Shari (Hank) Nelson, nephew Tanner Nelson, and niece Chloe Stoner along with many, many friends.
A special acknowledgement to the Angels of HopeWest who dignified Ron’s end-of-life care with love. Ronald’s family is eternally grateful.
A private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in Ron’s name to HopeWest of Grand Junction (https://www.hopewestco.org/donate/)
