Rosetta (Rose) Elvera Ochs, age 95, passed away February 27, 2018, at Grand Junction, Colorado. Rose was born February 12, 1923, in Hoisington, Kansas, to Jacob and Agnes Stettinger. She worked on her parents’ farm during the Depression and later married Lester Ochs on December 4, 1943. They had two children together. The family moved to Kansas City where Rose worked at Bethany Lutheran Church as a Sunday School and Bible Class teacher. The family moved to Hays, Kansas, and were members of Messiah Lutheran Church. While in Hays, Rose received her nurse’s aide training and worked for 25 years at the Hays Medical Center. After her retirement she lived at the Hays Wyndam Place. Most recently, she resided at Mesa View Senior Residences in Grand Junction.
Rosetta is survived by her son, Darrel Ochs and wife Kathy of Gypsum, CO, and her daughter, Connie Riedel and husband Drew of Grand Junction, CO. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Georgia Hopwood of Overland Park, KS; Allison Kent of Eagle, CO; and Summer Kassmel of Eagle, CO; and one foster grandson, Ken Elder of Lee’s Summit, MO. In addition, she is survived by 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Luella Miller of Great Bend, KS. Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Leonard and his wife Esther, and a granddaughter Jessica.
Rosetta was cremated in Colorado and grave-side memorial services will be held in Hays, Kansas, at a later date.
