Russel Corbett Caviness was born in Redding, California on October 2, 1947 to Louie Caviness and Daisy Caviness. Russ grew up in Redding, California for a short while before moving to Colorado. He graduated from Naturita high school. Russ was known for his easy-going nature with a smile that could light up any room. He has 9 kids whom he adored. He met Judy and Together they lived in Glade park, Colorado and then when the kids got older Russ and Judy moved to Murray, Kentucky. Over their many years together, they enjoyed the great outdoors, traveling, and spending time with their friends and family and everything that a life can offer. Russ began his first career by getting drafted into the Army at 18 years old. Later, he began his career for the railroad in Grand Junction. Over many years in this career, he made many lasting friendships and so many memories. Russ was an amazing father and mentor to all of his children. He enjoyed his phone calls and check-ins from all of his family even if it was just catching up with them. He was blessed to spend time with his grandchildren whom he adored and was so proud of all 13 of them. Russ was a giving man, and loved to help in any way he possibly could even if it was just to give you and hug so you had a better day. He was a Christian man, involved with many churches over the years. He attended Hardin Baptist church in Kentucky where he was loved by many and made a huge impact. In his most recent years, he enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He loved to go riding on the side by side with his daughter and son in law and he loved to go fishing and being by the lake. He just enjoyed being surrounded with his family doing anything and everything he could do with them. He was the friend that could be counted on with the courage to act. Russ peacefully went to heaven on June 13 , 2023 surrounded by his family. His spirit was freed from the constraints of his health. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sisters, brothers, children, his grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and lots of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
