Russell Robert Cowdin

April 23, 1974 — June 14, 2023

Russell Robert Cowdin, age 49, died unexpectedly on June 14, 2023 in Grand County, Utah.

Born April 23, 1974 in Buffalo, Wyoming, Russ was the son of Carl and Sharon Cowdin.

Russ graduated from Medicine Bow High School in Medicine Bow, Wyoming in 1992.  He received his Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts from Central Oregon Community College in Bend, Oregon in 2010.

Russ was raised and spent most of his early adult life in Wyoming, with a few brief stints in other midwest states.

Russ met the love of his life, Maggie Bodyfelt, in 2004 while living in Laramie, Wyoming and they married in 2008.  Together they lived in Casper, Wyoming; Bend, Oregon; and Denver, Colorado before settling down in Grand Junction, Colorado with their two rescue dogs, Rogue and Storm.

Russ was most recently employed at a nearby guest ranch working as a caretaker and jack-of-all-trades.  Throughout his life, he worked primarily in the culinary arts and transportation industries in a wide variety of roles.

Russ was truly one of a kind. He was generous, funny, and hardworking. Russ loved to tell long stories, share his wealth of random knowledge, and strike up conversations with anyone who crossed his path. He enjoyed collecting Stranahan’s whiskey, cooking a good meal, cuddling with his dogs, and exploring new hobbies.

Russ is survived by his wife, Maggie Bodyfelt; his beloved dogs, Rogue and Storm; his parents, Carl and Sharon Cowdin; his brothers, Ron and Charlie; a host of extended family; and many, many friends.

Plans for a memorial service will be made at a later date.
