beloved mother of Cynthia Pofahl and Tim Salter (Doreen), Grandmother to Michelle Salter,
Tom Salter (Nicole), Christopher Pofahl (Julie), Amanda Pofahl-Harper (Michael), and Rebecca
Salazar (Jake), Great Grandmother to Zach Salter (Jennifer), Mariah Pofahl (Rebecca), Julia Salter, Alexis and Marcus
Salter, Elizabeth, Brett, Leona and Aaron Pofahl, Jake Salazar (Kelsey), Brad Salazar (Aneta),
Michael Salazar (Dasha), Kristy Salazar, Cory Salazar, Aaron Salazar (Santannah), and Stephen
Salazar, and 15 Great Great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ruth led a long life, she was the original energizer bunny, she was a WWII veteran serving in the
Navy as a secretary. Ruth worked for Howard Foundry, Allen Bradley, she retired moved to
Mercer, Wisconsin with her husband Oscar Karn. She and Oscar moved to Grand Junction,
Colorado in 1992 to be near her daughter Cindy and to enjoy warmer winters.
After the death of Oscar, in 1997, she went to work for school district 51 as a cook in the school
cafeterias, then retired again at the age of 92. She loved to garden and an occasional trip to Las
Vegas.
Ruth was proceeded in death by her parents Edward and Helen Pasterski, brothers Ed, Ron, and
Jim, husband Oscar Karn.
Ruth will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A duel memorial service will be held in Wisconsin August 7, 2021, for Ruth and her brother Jim
who passed in December 2020. A graveside service will be held in April date to be determined.
Memorials can be given to Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Grand Junction.
