Shannon Suzanne Campbell-Smethurst

January 20, 1972 — September 14, 2024

Shannon Suzanne Campbell- Smethurst passed on September 14.  

She was a gifted and passionate english teacher at Montrose high school for over 20 years. Shannon moved to Montrose at age twelve from the Denver area. After attending Montrose high school, she studied at Western state to become a teacher. Eventually she continued her education and attained her masters. As well as working in the English department, she also taught English in the special education department at MHS. Shannon reveled in being a parent, teacher, wife, daughter, friend, and neighbor. She was also a very talented singer, who often performed with her husband locally. Shannon was an avid gardener, planting hundreds of trees and gardens in all the places she lived. She was a lover of animals and rescued several cats, birds, dogs, chickens and rabbits that remain eternally grateful.  She was a force of nature and honest to the core. She will be forever missed by her family and friends, and those who adored and worked with her. 

She is proceeded in death by her sister, Shawn Renee Johnston. She is survived by her son, Trevor Kuboske 26, her daughters, Alaina Smethurst 14, and Emma Smethurst, 10 and her husband, William Smethurst 56 . Her sister, Alex Pack and her two daughters Jayden 15 and Taylor 12. Her mother, Beth Johnston, (Montrose) and her father Dan Campbell (Seattle). 

Services will be held at Grace Community church in Montrose October 12 , 11 AM. Our deepest love to all who have reached out in support of our family near and far. flowers can be sent to Grace community on Friday, October 11 between 9 am and 12pm. 

Any memorial donations will be put towards Alaina and Emma‘s college fund.
