Shelly Rae Duran

Shelly Duran passed away on Monday August 26, 2024, she was 58 years old. She was the youngest daughter of Rudy and Sheila Duran. Shelly was born and raised in Grand Junction and she graduated from grand Junction High School and Colorado Mesa University. She worked for Sodexo food services for 40 years which allowed her to travel and live in many beautiful cities and states. She started her career at Mesa College while attending school. After graduation she went to Colorado Springs, Colorado at Colorado College; Rangely, CO at Colorado Northwestern CC; Springfield, MO at Missouri State; Las Cruces, NM at New Mexico State; back to Missouri University of Central Missouri. She also oversaw schools across MO and Iowa before she came back to Colorado and was currently employed at CMU. During Shelly’s life adventures she had life long friendships and loved hanging out and traveling. She often reminisced about traveling through Italy with her best friends, she also developed many extended friendships and family along the way. She loved and truly cared for her employees and co workers, many of them became close friends and family. While living in MO she developed a love for boating and fishing which stayed with her everywhere she lived. She loved to travel and a favorite was girl road trips, her many trips to NY City with her sister, and she loved the theater and concerts. Shelly is survived by her Sister Sherry Duran, her brother Rick Duran, her sister Sharon Duran-Neff (Hyrum) best friends (Margi)Sam Morgan (Ron), Teri Tricky, Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, she was deeply loved and will be missed by many. There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday September 21st, at The Eagle Rim park on Orchard Mesa from 10 am to 2pm, the event will be catered by Sodexo catering so please RSVP if you can.
