Shirley Price

May 16, 1949 — August 8, 2022

Shirley Coleen Price, age 73, passed on August 8, 2022, following a brave five-year battle with ovarian cancer. Born May 16, 1949, in Grand Junction Colorado, Coleen was the daughter of the late Shirley and Jess Hixon.

Coleen graduated from Grand Junction High School and attended Mesa State University shortly after in 1967. She was employed as a sales associate in the furniture industry for over 20 years after passionately devoting all of her time to raising her two children. She enjoyed baking and cooking, which was a passion she used to strengthen relationships within her community. Coleen’s steadfast spirit encouraged her family and friends to persist in the face of many struggles. Additionally, her love for providing countless rescue dogs with a safe home truly emulates her empathetic attitude toward all she encountered.

Without any doubt, Coleen left this earth a much gentler and kinder place than she found it. As a well-loved member of our community, she never failed to enhance a conversation with her witty humor and loving character. She was preceded in death by her brother Jim Hixon. Coleen is survived by her husband William Price and their two children Kristine (Bruce) Hill, Jason (Erica) Price and Step Daughter Michelle (Matt) Vogel.  Not only did Coleen provide a wonderful example for her two children, she additionally poured her soul into being a role model for her five grandchildren. Coleen’s celebration of life will be held at a later date, and all are welcome to join us in remembering an extraordinary mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Our hearts will never be in absence of Coleen’s loving spirit.
