Stephen Thomas Preston, 65, Passed away Wednesday October 23,2019 following a long illness.
Born September 28, 1954 in St. Louis, MO to Fontella Eaton and Stephen T. Preston.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army from 1972-1976. Serving as a Specialist during the Vietnam War and the Cold War. During his service he earned a Sharp Shooter award and was National Defense Service Medal recipient.
He was employed for the State of Colorado as a highway maintenance operator from 2001-2017 until he retired. He also was a Greyhound bus Driver from 1994-2001.
He was a recent member of the Western Colorado Dragway and was a former Mason in his younger years.
Stephen enjoyed many hobbies, with Trains being his biggest joy. If a train was around he would find it. Stephen also loved Drag racing, Bingo, Chevy (big blocks), Craftsman tools and shopping at Home Depot. He loved sitting in his garage tinkering and fixing anything he could find; smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee (a Cap!!)
Stephen was one of the most friendly, outgoing, hardworking, cheerful, jokesters whose laughter and smile would brighten any room he entered. He had a heart of gold, willing to help any one at any time. He was a very soulful man with enough love in his heart for the entire world.
He was preceded in Death by both his mother and Father
He is survived by his wife Patricia Paz. His children Beth, Keith, Ben, Masharey, Stephaniana (Allen Taylor)and Christian “Bash”(Nicole). Sister Ramona Watson. Eleven grandchildren, Seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 1st, 1:00 pm, at the Veteran's Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, Colorado.
