Susanne Odell

Susanne Carson O'Dell, age 83 of Grand Junction CO. entered eternal rest on December 27,  2020 at Foresight Care Center from complications due to ovarian cancer.  Susanne was born September 11, 1937 in Grand Junction CO. the daughter of Fred and Helen Strohmeier.

Susanne graduated from Grand Junction High School the Class of 1955.  Following graduation she attended Mesa Junior College.  Susanne during her college days met Bruce L. Carson, an Air Force veteran who was also attending Mesa.  A romance quickly kindled and the two were married February 15, 1958.  Over the next several years the couple started their family and were blessed with children Deborah, Scott, and Matthew.  The family followed Bruce's business opportunities to

Denver CO., Glendale California, and Crystal Lake, Illinois.  During their residence in Crystal Lake Susanne's husband Bruce unexpectedly passed away on October 8, 1983.

Susanne then relocated to California where she was employed for several years with Barret Development Corp. in the home interior set up department.  Seeking to move closer to enjoy her children and grandchildren in Colorado she moved to Denver and worked at US Medical Supply, a company owned by her oldest son Scott.  While Susanne enjoyed her career at US Medical she relished the time she now had to spend with her grandchildren.

Attending a funeral in Denver for a close college friend, she met another former classmate she had not seen in years Joseph O'Dell.  The spark of romance was lit and the two after a long distance courtship wed on October 5, 2009.  Susanne retired from US Medical and she and Joe moved back to Grand Junction CO. to assist in the care of her parents.  After settling in Grand Junction Susanne and Joe enjoyed the time with their children and grandchildren.  Susanne also served as a volunteer at Hope West and Museum of Western CO.  Susanne once again met with great sorrow when Joseph after a battle with Parkinson's disease passed away on August 17, 2016, followed by the loss of her beloved daughter Deborah Carson Youngerman on August 31, 2018.

Susanne was a loving, strong, opinionated woman with a deep faith in God and family.  Susanne's faith, children, and grandchildren were her focus and concern: followed closely by the special ladies and neighbors who comprised a joyful cadre of wine connoisseurs.

She is survived by her brother Mike Strohmeier of Grand Junction, her son Scott [Marylin] of Park City, Utah and grandchildren Christian, Emily, Riley, and Tess:  son Matthew Carson and granddaughter Lilian Carson of Grand Junction.

Susanne requested cremation.  A Mass in the Extraordinary Rite, for the intention of Susanne, will be celebrated at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Littleton, CO.  A service and memorial will be at a date to be determined.  Charitable donations may be made to Hope West.  The family wishes to thank the Doctors and Caregivers at Community Hospital and Foresight Care Center for their unrelenting professionalism and kindness.
