Teddie Degraffenried

January 6, 1941 — February 14, 2017

Teddie Aaron deGraffenried was born on January 6, 1941 in Delta, Colorado, he was the son of the late James deGraffenried and June Lieper. He graduated from Hotchkiss High School, in Hotchkiss Colorado. Following high school he spent  11 years in the US Navy, serving in the Vietnam war where he earned the bronze star. He served aboard the USS Bennington and the USS Ticonderoga.

He passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Hope West Hospice Center in Grand Junction, following a long illness.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pat deGraffenried and two daughters, Michelle King and her husband Frank, Jennifer Izienicki and her husband Jay, four brothers and three sisters, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter  Lisa, two brothers, a sister and one grandchild.

Teddie was a quiet hardworking man but he was also a jokester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and horses. He especially loved his dogs and was very devoted to them.

A short committal service will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado on Wednesday, February 22nd @ 3:00. Family and Friends are asked to arrive 20-30 minutes before the service. A gathering of friends and family for a celebration of his life will follow at the deGraffenried home.
