Valerie Worthington

Valerie Jean Worthington, age 60, of Grand Junction, CO, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at St.Mary’s Hospital.

Born June 29, 1956 in San Francisco, CA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Doris Barr Nesbit.  Following graduation from High School, she married the love of her life, James Worthington.  Jim’s military career took the young family many places during the early years until they settled in Grand Junction and have lived on Orchard Mesa ever since.

A quiet and reserved person, Valerie enjoyed reading and had an appreciation for art. She especially enjoyed the work of Thomas Kinkade. More than anything, Valerie was dedicated to her family and nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by a son, Travis (Nicole) Worthington, of Grand Junction, two daughters, Jennifer (Josh) Harris, De Beque, CO, and Cassandra (Donald Gates) Worthington, Walsenburg, CO, a brother, David Nesbit, of Boulder City, NV, two sisters, Debbie (Randy) Sjulstead of Denver and Suzie (Mike) Bopp of Henderson, NV, grandchildren, Brooklyn, Lucas, Elizabeth, Kymber, Logan, William, DeAnna, Destiny, Justice, Payton, and Roper.

Memorial services will be Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Brown’s Chapel, 904 N. 7th Street.
