Verena Clare Lyon

Verena Clare Lyon was born on the Fourth of July, 1980, in Delta, Colorado. As the child of Southern Baptist missionaries, she was raised in West Africa in the nation of Ghana before returning to Western Colorado to attend college at what is now CMU (formerly known as Mesa State). 

After a 5-year long battle with cancer, Verena was called home to The Heavenly Father on Friday, September 6, 2024. She was 44 years old. Verena was preceded in death by her mother Joan Shockley and her first husband, Adam Levi Trumbo. Verena is survived by her three boys, Josiah, Solomon and Hezekiah, her two stepchildren Madelynn and Deuce, her sisters Lona, Nicole and Alicia, her father Michael Shockley and her husband Richard Lyon. 

Verena was a woman of incredible character and faith in Jesus Christ, and inspired hundreds, if not thousands, through her unwavering faithfulness in the midst of her personal struggles with loss and illness. Verena was, in short, a Proverbs 31 kind of woman, no matter her circumstances.

 A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at River of Life Alliance Church, 701 24-1/2 road in Grand Junction, Colorado on Saturday, September 21st at 2:30 p.m. 

Flowers are welcome, though delivery of such should be scheduled between noon and 1:30 on the 21st.
