Violet Kay Windnagle, age 63, of Grand Junction, CO passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her residence.
Born March 2, 1951 Olean, New York, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Norma Saverline Windnagle. She was a graduate of Bennett High School in Buffalo, New York.
From an early age, Violet developed a skill for working with computers and as a young woman became a computer information technologist with the Buffalo Police Department. She often recalled special memories of working there. Violet also worked in the computer division of an investment firm, and later worked as a teacher in a computer training center. She became a CNA and worked at the Regional Center in Grand Junction; a position she dearly loved.
In addition to her working career, she exhibited great artistic talent. She loved to sew and was known for her beautiful Barbie Doll clothing. She even made vinyl Barbie Doll furniture. She was good at knitting, too, but had a special gift for crocheting. Violet could look at a crocheted piece, go home and duplicate it. She created and wrote many crochet patterns and sold some of her patterns to craft magazines.
Survivors include her sister Nadeen Scarff, a niece Jennifer Scarff, and two grandnieces Kimber Stone and Paige Wells, all of Grand Junction, CO. Also left behind but not forgotten are her K9 companions, a Shih Tzu "CoCo" and a Chiweenie "Kandu".
Memorials may be made to Roice-Hurst Humane Society, 362 28 Road, Grand Junction, CO 81501
