Our beloved Marine, Husband, Father, Papa, Uncle, Cousin, Wayne Monroe Hamrick,71, peacefully left this world on January 19, 2021 at 6:35 A.M. following a sudden illness.
Wayne was born on May 28, 1949 in Caldwell, Idaho to Elberta Marie Heineke and Nicus Monroe Hamrick.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother Elberta Marie Heineke, Nicus Monroe Hamrick his father, sister Carolyn K. Long, and son Wayne Jr..
He is survived by his wife Loydena Hamrick, daughter Raquel Page, her children Payshence, Robert, and Johnny, fellow Marine and son Jackson Hamrick, his wife Shilo and their kids Aden and Rylynn, his son Steven Hamrick and from a previous marriage his daughter Stacey. Along with a large extended family of Aunt’s, Uncle’s, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Wayne grew up in Idaho, Alaska, Washington and Colorado. He became a Marine on August 08, 1966 and served valiantly in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged July 18, 1972 and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Good Conduct Medal 1st Award, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Stars, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Purple Heart Medal. He continued to serve his country through his service work as a member of the VFW, Post 9221 and the American Legion in Cedaredge. Wayne was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the Cedaredge ward.
Wayne married Loydena Mae Condit on July 28, 1979 in Palisade Park and was sealed in the Washington D.C.’s temple on August 17, 1989 to his wife, Loydena and three children Raquel, Jackson, and Steven. Wayne and Loydena lived in Nucla/ Naturita in 1979 to 1981 where they gave birth to their daughter Raquel in Norwood. They then moved to Grand Junction in 1981 it was a short stay and they moved to Denver in the same year (1981) to 1983 where Wayne worked for a tire shop. Wayne, Loydena, and Raquel moved to Virginia from 1983 to 1991 where their two son’s Jackson and Steven were born. In 1991 the Colorado mountains called them home where they lived in Grand Junction from 1991 to 1995. From there they found their forever home in Cedaredge (1995 to present).
Wayne’s favorite pastime was his family, he doted on his grandchildren and loved watching their sports, band, and extracurricular activities. He enjoyed having coffee with his fellow comrades bragging about his talented, crafty wife Loydena, telling stories about the old days, and of course his grandkids. He enjoyed a good Louis L’Amour novel, playing on his computer, serving his country by honoring other Veterans through his service work with the VFW and most of all he looked forward to attending his grandchildren’s events.
Memorial services will be held on January 30, 2021 at 1 P.M. located at Cedaredge Cemetery, 205 SE Independence Ave., Cedaredge, CO 81413.
