William Charles Batiste, age 88 died April 14, 2025. Born in 1937 in California, he was the son of the late Urbano and Anna Batiste.
He grew up in Sacramento, California, and attended college at Sacramento State, where he met his wife Margaret whom he was with for over 60 years before her death in 2018.
They then moved to Davis, California and he earned his Doctorate in Entomology from the University of California. He worked as an entomologist for many years, with the University of California at Berkeley before moving to Grand Junction to work for Colorado State University at the Orchard Mesa Field Station.
He enjoyed hunting big game, gardening and maintaining a menagerie of farm animals. Later in life he developed a love of birds and photographing them. He will be remembered for his many years of bird calendars he enjoyed sharing with friends.
He is survived by his four daughters Kathy, Deborah, Janet and Susan, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
