Known as Jay to his friends and family, lived happily 68 years on this earth. His passing was unexpected and sudden.
Born in Denver Colorado to Robert and June Crabtree.
Jay lived in Brighton CO, as a kid, with his parents and sister Joan. He loved horseback riding and won rodeo trophies. He moved to Rifle in 1966. He graduated high school in Rifle in 1970 and went on to attend Mesa State College. He earned an associate degree in 1973 in applied science.
It was in college that he fell in love with his late wife Selena Brice. They were married September 15th 1972 in Rifle CO. They moved to Grand Junction, CO where they had two sons, Shawn Crabtree and Michael Crabtree. Jay and Selena moved a few times over the years from Grand Junction to Denver and eventually raising their sons in Kerns Utah. They moved back to Grand Junction in 1998.
Jay was passionate about music and his dogs. He loved tinkering with stereo equipment, movies, the outdoors and fishing.
Jay was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Jay was a patient man that didn’t judge, he was very forgiving and loving. He had the best laugh.
Jay loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with his son and sons family. He especially loved his grandkids. He took them fishing and was excited to start a farm where he dreamed of them helping him raise pigs and chickens.
He recently moved to Austin. His dream was a home with lots of land and animals.
He is preceded in death by his wife Selena Crabtree(Brice), his son Shawn Crabtree.
He is survived by his sister Joan Moreland of Grand Junction CO and son Michael (Rikki) Crabtree, Grand Junction CO and their children, Lyric, Shawn, Dryst, Ben, Lantis, Marlee and Jaylyn.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 22nd at 4pm at Jays home, 10347 2100 Road Austin CO.
