William Charles Fenstermaker

August 2, 1965 — March 10, 2024

William “Bill” Charles Fenstermaker passed away on March 10, 2024, due to natural causes following multiple illnesses. Bill led a remarkable life as a self-employed professional and world-renowned artist and fly tier for over three decades.

Throughout his career, Bill created numerous pieces for private clients, including collaborations with Jonas Brothers. His passion for art extended beyond his personal work, as he was a former member of Gunnison Gorge Anglers, contributing his art to raise funds for fly fishing shows and events.

Bill found joy in traveling to events such as the Annual Eastern Idaho Fly Fishing Show and the Denver Merchandise Mart Show. Additionally, he generously supported Veterans Programs whenever possible, showcasing his kind and giving nature.

While Bill was known for his quiet demeanor and reserved personal life, in public he shined as a prankster and joker, making friends effortlessly wherever he went. His dedication to his craft was unwavering, reflecting his hardworking spirit and commitment to excellence.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents David Bettes and Eloise Wahnetah of the Eastern Band Cherokee Nation. He is survived by his beloved son W. Thane Fenstermaker of Lincoln, Nebraska.

A celebration of Bill’s life will take place on May 25th, 2024, at Pleasure Park on the River of the Gunnison outside Delta, Colorado. The event will run from noon to 2:00 p.m., with an opportunity for attendees to fish longer if they wish. It will be a potluck/picnic style gathering, so please bring your own plates, forks, and a dish to share. Guests are encouraged to carpool if possible and should come prepared with their fishing licenses.

Bill's legacy lives on through the memories he created with those who knew him best. He touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and artistic talent. May he rest in peace knowing that he made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
