William Lemley Gates

William (Bill) L. Gates of Grand Junction CO passed away on October 10, 2024, at 89 years of age. The son of the late Albert E. and Bettie E. Gates (Hight) born on July 22, 1935, in Burns Colorado at the family ranch. He attended Eagle Valley High School in Gypsum, CO, and was a proud alumni of Colorado State University graduating in 1957. After college, he was with the National Guard and enlisted in the U.S. Army. Bill was hardworking and always ready to help those around him. His life was dedicated to family, friends, ranching, and real estate. He was a Rancher in Burns Colorado for many years and also was an established Real Estate Broker. His extensive knowledge of ranches throughout Western Colorado facilitated his ranching and real estate careers. He was dedicated in both fields. He Married Janice Elaine Gates (Adamson) and they spent many years together and lived life to the fullest. 

He is survived by his wife Janice and her family. His daughter Simmy Burrows (David) of Hugoton KS; grandchildren, Gabriel and Destiny Filippo (Seth); great-grandchildren Laynie K and Lexa M, His son Cash Albert Gates (Teressa), of Guymon OK; grandchild Cody William Gates (Meghan), great grandchildren Lola June and Hazel Lynn. Grandchild Alix Nicole Guin (Bradley) of Lubbock TX. Along with his sisters; Janice Muller (Jack) and Janet Mayne. On the Janice Gates side daughter Debbie Pemberton (Bob). Grandchildren Kassie Hyer (Ron) and Keely Aldrich (Johnathan). Daughter Sophia Smith (Lynn) Grandchildren Lynnzie Lindstrom (Matt), Casey Smith and Kelsey Mackert (Shad). Daughter Joy Wagner (Marc). Along with Great Grandchildren Luke Smith, Carter Lindstrom, Beau Mackert and Brock Hyer. 

The memorial service will be held on November 13, 2024, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction CO. promptly at 1:00 PM.
