Alan Eugene Thompson, age 65, of Grand Junction, CO died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in St. Mary's Hospital.
Born March 10, 1950 in Gettysburg, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Vernus Theodore and Betty Jean Tennant Thompson. Following graduation from High School, Alan took college courses to become a Master Mechanic. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, Alan had worked as a Diesel Master Mechanic Supervisor for the Utah Transit Authority for over 10 years.
Alan was a fun loving man who liked to travel and make people laugh. Despite his modest means, he traveled the world including many places in the United States. In addition to being a member of the Eagles Club, he loved to fish and playing dominoes was one of his favorite pass-times. Alan was an incredibly generous man who never knew a stranger. He would always take in a friend and never turned anyone away. Alan was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Thompson, Belgrade, ME, his two wonderful grandchildren, Elizabeth Gwenn Thompson, age 13 and Matthew Austin Thompson, age 10, and a host of friends. Also missing him, but not forgotten are his three Chihuahua K-9 companions, Melba, Bambi and Girl, and his beloved feline friends, Mamma and Daughter cats.
Services with Military Honors will be at The Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado Monday, August 10, 2015 at 3 o'clock.
