John Holt

​John Charles Holt, 72 of Fruita, Colorado passed away June 4, 2015 at Colorado Canyons Nursing Home in Fruita. John was born in Joplin, Missouri on February 16, 1943 to Othel C. Holt & Dorothy Lea Holt. He graduated from South Gate High School in South Gate, California and entered the U.S. Army in 1966. John was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged from service in 1968. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anna and stepson, John Thomas Polk. Survivors include his sister, Beverly Davis of Fruita, CO, two stepdaughters...Patty Painter of Riverside, CA & Sandy Meza of Rancho Cucamonga, CA...granddaughter Anna Candelaria and husband Ryan Candelaria, grandson David Vasquez and great grandson Timothy Candelaria. John retired as a security guard for the city of Anaheim, CA in 2006. He was an avid reader and a fan of baseball and was an active member of his church. Cremation is under the direction of Brown's Cremation Service and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Montrose, CO.
