John Mall

John Arthur Mall of 68 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 17th  at 12:40 AM. John was born in Stuttgart, Germany on September 2nd, 1952. John was adopted from an orphanage by Carlton and Jane Mall. When John was five the family moved to San Antonio, Texas. Since the English language was a challenge for him, he flunked the first grade. Despite his early challenges, he graduated and went on to earn his Associates Degree in Sales Marketing. John served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged.

John later moved to Orange County in Southern California where he met Cathy O’Connor. The two were married in 1990. They eventually moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where John spent the remainder of his life. They had three children together who’s names are Mary, Daniel, and Michael.

A couple of years past and John later met Tammy Pomeroy. They had one child together by the name of Johan.

He proudly raised his two youngest sons(Michael and Johan) as a single father. He raised his sons to be active members of his church’s youth group, The Boy Scouts, and the community of Grand Junction.

John was an amazing and outstanding influencer, servant, friend, father, leader, and the first person to step up during a time of need. He was very much a social butterfly, and enjoyed talking to anyone he would come across. He was a faithful believer in our Lord and was an active member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church for many many years. He often enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, camping, fishing, and even serving food to people in need at various parks around town on Sundays after church. You would almost always see a smile on his face.

He is survived by his children Mary Otero, Daniel Janowski, Br. Anthony Maria (Michael Mall), and Johan Mall.

John was a pleasure to be around bringing kindness and faith into the world. He will be greatly missed and cherished by many people throughout the Grand Valley.
