Leonard Charles (Len, Lenny) Watkins passed away January 18, 2017. He was born march 12, 1952 to Charles Robert and Donna Gayle (Wells) Watkins in Grand Junction, CO. The first years of his life were spent between San Rafael, CA and Fruita, CO. The family settled in Fruita in 1955. After growing up, he worked in construction for Jensen Construction learing the carpenter trade and becoming a general contractor. In 1972 he married Judith Ann Jensen. To this marriage were born Jesse Duane and jory Lee Watkins. Later he married Mary Lynn Brandfas in 1981. To this marriage was born Kaleena Lynn Watkins. While still in Grand Junction, Len started his own business, LW Construction. The family first moved to Denver then to Colorado Springs, CO where he obtained his Journeyman Carpenters license. He worked in the construction business until health issues required him to retrie. Since that time, he has lived in the Grand Junction area. Left to cherish his memory is the 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 9 siblings: Darlyn (Tom) Galvin, Nebraska; Jerry Redden and special friend Clyde Thompson, Grand Junction; Robert Watkins, Montrose; Roy (Terri) Watkins, Glenwood Springs; Jo Watkins, Fruita; Elijah Watkins and special friend Katie Thompson, Michigan; Seth Watkins, Grand Junction; Aaron Watkins, Denver; Michael (Tiffany) Watkins, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his Mother and Dad, Grandparents Leonard and Elsie Wells, and Charles H. and Ethyl Watkins. Len’s wishes were to be cremated. Memorial services will be held on Thursday January 26, 2017, 7:00 pm at Brown's Chapel, 904 N 7th Street in Grand Junction, CO An additional celebration of life service will also be planned for later in the year and at that time Len's cremated remains will be scattered on Horse Mountain
