Mary Ann Dowd

MARY ANN DOWD December 27, 1945-May 29, 2015

Mary Ann completed her earthly journey on May 29th and went to be with her Heavenly Father. She was born to Olive (Wilson) and Harvey Lee Armstrong in Wheatridge, Colorado. She spent most of her life in Grand Junction. She married Thomas Deane Rhodes Jr. and they had two children. Rick Craven Rhodes and Thomas Dean Rhodes II. Her husband died in an automobile accident. Mary Ann was married to Kenneth Smith and Allen Lee Dowd. Both these marriages ended in divorce. Mary Ann worked hard all her life to support her family. She worked at the Cafe Caravan for 12 years; the Elks Lodge for 15 years; the Golden Corral for six years; and owned Grandma's Restaurant in Palisade. She knwe no stranger and made life long friends in her lifetime. Mary Ann is survived by her favorite (and only) sister, Sherlene (Dale) Young in Delta. Her son, Rick (Melinda) Rhodes in Las Vegas, Nevada and her son, Thomas Rhodes in Grand Junction. She has three grandchildren, Octova, Cory and Caleb, three step grandchildren, Josh, Sarah and Becky. She was so proud of her seven great grand children and spoke of them often. Preceding her in death are her three husbands, her mother Olive Johnson, her father Harvey Lee Armstrong, her two step fathers Arthur Cyphers and Vern Johnson. She especially missed her brother, Garold Lee Armstrong. Her family wishes to thank the people at the Palisade Living Center and Hope West Hospice for their loving and competent care of Mary Ann.
