August 5, 1952 - February 19, 2016

Richard Wayne Villotti, 63, a lifetime resident of Grand Junction, passed away February 19, 2016.

He attended Grand Junction High School, where he was an all-star football player with his brother, Daryl.  Rik attended Mesa State College before he was drafted into the Army, serving until 1978.  After his service he received a full football scholarship to the School of Mines, which he turned down to pursue finance at CU Boulder, where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree.  He clearly valued education and was an avid reader.  He also loved to play chess.

After finishing school in Boulder, Rik returned to the Western Slope he loved and never left.  His grandparents were among the original homesteaders on East Orchard Mesa.  He was co-owner of a residential and commercial painting company and spent most of his time painting many properties around the western slope.  He loved coaching women's softball in the valley, even taking part in his son's sports teams.  Rik was a die-hard Broncos fan and enjoyed watching the Broncos win the Super Bowl game this year.

Rik will be remembered by his close and loyal friends he shared since high school  Surviving are his twin sons, Kurt and Jason Villotti; sister, Linda Adelson; brother, Bruce Villotti, and step-mother, Susan Villotti.
