Robert Cautrell

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother Robert Lee Cautrell on Thursday, December 8, 2021 after a long fight with Covid. Robert was born on March 31, 1959 in Grand Junction, Colorado and was the oldest son of Luchin (Luke) Cautrell and Thelma Harrow.

Robert spent most of his working life as a heavy equipment operator but most recently he has worked at JM Kennels in Johnstown, CO working beside his brother Luke, raising Bernedoodles, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Poodles, and Dachshund puppies.

Robert grew up in Clifton, CO with his five siblings, DeAnna Cook (Howard), Linda Longenecker (Mark), Luke Cautrell (Jane), Angela Schuller (John) and Marshall Harrow. Robert was always there for the family, helping our mom throughout his life as well as always taking care of his brothers and sisters. Robert did not have children of his own but was a great uncle to his nieces and nephews: Jennifer, Paul, Chris, Shawn, Lindsey, Ariel, Sarah, Amanda, Mackenzie, Cole, Kierstyn, and Jeremiah. Robert had many friends that he has made across Colorado and Utah and was always there to lend a helping hand if anyone ever needed one.

Robert loved to be in the mountains, especially on Grand Mesa or the Uncompahgre fishing, hunting, or rock hunting but his greatest passion was the art of cooking. He would take any recipe and make it his own and was most recently writing a cookbook to share with his family. His cheesecakes were his favorite. This past summer, he also started canning all of his brother Luke’s garden veggies including tomatoes, pickles, beets and more.

Robert was preceded in death by his dad Luke Cautrell, mom Thelma Harrow, stepdad Weldon (Casey) Harrow, sister DeAnna, and niece Jennifer.

Robert will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 16 at 1:00 PM at the Palisade Cemetery.
